Screenwriting
In 2020, upon returning to northern Minnesota after a 40+ year absence, I was invited to a small gathering and immediately became captivated by stories of our childhood and how our adult lives formed from that. I took notes, chuckling as I did. My friends asked me to read what I had written, then laughed when I did. “Do we really sound like that?”, they asked. “Yes!” I said. I love hearing the stories spoken. Many pages later, the stories began to morph into a screen play written by three of us who grew up together: myself, Patty Wood and Mary Jo Falk. We enjoyed two fabulous mentors, Cristina Pippa and Ruth Atkinson, and received an Individual Artist Project Grant made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Cabin #4, the story of a writer who refurbishes her family cabin after a flood with her friends, who know just how much it means to her, was completed in 2026. It is our first script. We are currently submitting it to various competitions, seeking a way for it to be produced.
